The intelligent water filter with the plus Coffee is 98 percent water. Its perfect quality is therefore essential for a perfect coffee result. With CLARIS Smart, JURA is further revolutionizing water filtration. The water filter technology ensures enhanced hygiene in fully automatic coffee machines, right from the water tank. With CLARIS Smart+, you increase the protection, product safety, and service life of your fully automatic coffee machine. For perfect coffee enjoyment every day. The CLARIS filter cartridge also has a reservoir at its lower end containing natural active ingredients that stabilize the water in the tank and thus reduce limescale deposits in the area of the tank base. This works entirely without additional energy or intervention, simply through the natural movement of the water in the tank, which constantly flows gently through the reservoir. As before, the upper section of the CLARIS filter cartridge for coffee preparation uses ion exchange and activated carbon in the upflow principle to filter exactly the amount of water needed for a perfect cup of coffee. Thanks to RFID technology, the fully automatic machine also detects whether a filter is inserted and automatically activates the appropriate mode. It continuously collects information about filter usage and alerts you when filter capacity is exhausted. This not only makes filter changes easier than ever, but also allows CLARIS Smart + to maximize its effectiveness.

To enable a dialogue between the filter and the fully automatic coffee machine, JURA uses modern RFID technology. Every machine equipped with the intelligent water system (IWS®) automatically detects when a filter is inserted, automatically switches to filter mode, and starts the rinsing process. When the filter is nearing its end, the fully automatic coffee machine notifies you that the filter needs to be changed. If this is not done, the machine activates descaling mode. After appropriate use, a descaling prompt appears. And descaling can only be performed with the filter removed. Mistakes resulting from misunderstandings are therefore a thing of the past.

Limescale: Cause of taste impairment and disorders
Limescale builds up when water is heated. Limescale-constricted pipes not only lead to longer heating times and thus increased power consumption, but can even cause the machine to fail completely. Limescale not only damages your fully automatic coffee machine, but also negatively impacts your coffee experience. Although small amounts of limescale are important for flavor, too much limescale leads to a bland aftertaste in the water and—also due to fluctuating water temperatures—prevents the coffee aromas from developing optimally.
CLARIS makes descaling unnecessary
The right water is crucial for the taste, as coffee is 98% water. However, in addition to calcium, minerals, and fluorides, tap water in many places also contains traces of lead, copper, aluminum, and chlorine. Placed directly in the water tank, the CLARIS filter ensures the water is always fresh with every brew. Harmful substances are completely absorbed, while the important fluorides are retained and act as a key flavor carrier in the development of the aroma. Thanks to the optimal water composition, every coffee specialty becomes a full-bodied taste experience. Descaling is also completely unnecessary with CLARIS.
