The MEATER App / First Steps
The German-language MEATER® app can be installed on any iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. The thermometer only works in conjunction with the app and does not have a separate display. After installing the app, simply activate Bluetooth on your device and connect it to the MEATER®. After a few seconds, the sensor will be recognized, and you're ready to go.

The app has preset programs and core temperatures for beef, pork, poultry, lamb, and fish. You can either use one of these programs or set your own temperature. Using the app is simple and intuitive. Once you have set the desired core temperature, insert the probe into the meat up to the mark and the cooking process can begin. The core temperature is measured at the tip of the probe. It is particularly important that the probe is inserted all the way into the meat up to the mark, as it is only designed for temperatures up to 100°C and would otherwise be damaged by the heat. The part behind the mark measures the external temperature and is designed for temperatures up to 275°C.

The app provides detailed information about the temperature progression in a clear graphic. During the cooking process, three temperatures are displayed in the main menu:

1. Internal (core temperature of the food)
2. Target (set target core temperature)
3. Ambient (temperature in the cooking chamber)

With the MEATER Link function, the measurement results can be mirrored via WLAN to other devices within the WLAN range and, with the help of the MEATER Cloud, even outside the WLAN network from anywhere with an internet connection.

Why is the probe so thick compared to other thermometers?
The MEATER's probe is approximately 13 cm long and has a diameter of 6 mm. This makes the MEATER significantly thicker than conventional grill thermometers. This is because a corresponding thickness is required to accommodate the technology.

How does the Wi-Fi connection work?
First, a smartphone/tablet must be within Bluetooth range, which can transmit data to other devices via Wi-Fi. However, the first device must remain within Bluetooth range during this time.

Contact with water
The MEATER® is splash-proof, but not completely waterproof. Therefore, it should not be completely submerged in water.

How the ambient display works
The "Ambient" ambient temperature is only displayed when the difference to the internal sensor is 5°C. Until then, only "-" is displayed.
